  1. Ok, first you’re going to set your computer screen on the window or display that you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. When you have that set, press the “Print Screen” button on your keyboard. This will capture the snapshot and paste it to your clipboard.
  3. Open your graphics program, MS Paint will work. Open a new file and paste the the contents of your clipboard onto MS Paint.  You can use Ctrl+V for this.
Now it will contain the image that you captured. Name the file and save it in the format that you choose. You may also want to resize it to your liking.

These Mac instructions are for Mac OS X which offers a application-free way to take screenshots
  • Command-shift-3… Takes a screenshot of the of the entire screen and saves it to your desktop.
  • Command-shift-4… The cursor will turn into a cross, just select the area you wish to take screenshot of and then it will be saved to your desktop.
  • Command-control-shift-3… Takes a screen shot of the whole screen and will save it to your clipboard.
  • Command-control-shift-4… This will save allow you to an area to take a screenshot of and then save it to your clipboard.
Note that when using the Control-shift-4 functions, just right click on the image, copy it and save it in a folder of your choice. From there you can open it with a program where you can crop it or edit it.
